DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM
We would like to invite you to make nominations for the 29th Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS) Doctoral Consortium. The Doctoral Consortium will be held in person from July 5-6, 2025, in UTM, Kuala Lumpur, just before the main PACIS conference.
Universities are invited to nominate candidates for the Consortium. Eligible candidates are Ph.D. students in Information Systems (IS) who have developed a plan for pursuing their dissertations and would benefit from constructive feedback from senior faculty in the IS field. The Consortium aims to allow doctoral students to share their research ideas and network with peers and experienced scholars serving as faculty advisors.
The faculty advisors are eminent scholars in the IS field from leading institutions around the globe. These faculty advisors also serve in senior editorial positions in the field’s top journals. This Consortium will be a significant event for emerging IS researchers in the Asia Pacific region and the rest of the globe.
Important Dates
- Nomination deadline: March 31, 2025
- Notification of acceptance: May 1, 2025
- Doctoral Consortium: July 5 – 6 (UTM Kuala Lumpur)
Doctoral Consortium Paper Submissions
Nomination Eligibility
Ph.D. students who are currently working on a doctoral dissertation in IS. The research should have progressed to the point where a fairly clear plan of investigation has been laid out, but there is sufficient scope for changes to this plan based on feedback from the Consortium. The ideal Consortium candidate should have at least 6-12 months of work remaining at the time of the Consortium.
The nominated candidates must be sufficiently proficient in English to participate in the Consortium since the language of the Consortium will be in English.
While priority will be given to students from institutions in the Asia-Pacific region (AIS Region 3), we encourage the nominations of strong candidates from other AIS regions.
Nomination Process
Though more than one nomination is allowed from a single institution, we require that multiple nominees be ranked by the nominating institutions.
The first-ranked nominees will have an equal chance against other first-ranked or sole nominees. More than one nominee may be admitted to the Consortium for schools with large doctoral programs. Students must be nominated by the chair/head of an IS unit or the unit where the IS program is situated (not individual faculty members).
The nomination should follow the following guidelines. A submitted proposal should outline the research topic, research question(s), theoretical foundations, proposed research methodology, current stage of the research, and plans for completion. A nomination letter from the chair/head of the IS unit should certify that the candidate is the nominee from the university/institution and that the candidate meets the eligibility criteria mentioned above.
Nomination Submission Requirements
This process already closed.
Consortium Schedule
The Consortium will take place in person as a pre-PACIS event. It will include a balanced mix of students representing diverse research topics, methods, schools, and cultures. Each student will present his or her research in a designated parallel stream led by 2-3 advisors or mentors, who will have carefully reviewed the student submissions.
Registration and Cost
The DC participation fee is as stated on the website in the REGISTER section.
Accommodation will be provided for one night, free of charge, in shared rooms with participants of the same gender, to those presenting proposals during the DC Consortium (check-in on 4th July 2025 and check-out on 5th July 2025).
